DENVER — The City of Denver is temporarily closing one block of Wynkoop Street outside Union Station to cars this week — part of a “festival street” pilot aimed at reimagining what one of downtown’s most heavily traveled corridors could look like if people, not vehicles, were the priority.
Nancy Kuhn, spokesperson for the Denver Department of Transportation and Infrastructure (DOTI), said the closure of the 1700 block of Wynkoop is an experiment designed to gather public feedback and mobility data.
“We’re really testing it as a festival space and looking at how people move and how people enjoy it,” Kuhn said. “We’ll be gathering data on mobility and travel, and then also asking people, what do you think? How do you like it?”…
