Aurora police chief talks about Flock, shows how it works in real time

AURORA, Colo. (KDVR) — The chief of the Aurora Police Department took time Monday to talk about the technology making major headlines in the metro area recently, Flock.

“So that alert that you just heard was actually a Flock alert,” Aurora Real Time Information Center technician Dillion showed FOX31. “It has an associated felony warrant. So, I go on our traffic cameras to show the location.”

As a Flock Alert came in, Dillion got a picture of a license plate, a car and a map of the area it was spotted in, along with what crime the car is possibly associated with.

“Then, what I can also, in relation to the Flock alert, is use other law enforcement databases to get either a DMV photo or other dossier of said party,” Dillion said. “So that way we’re doing all of our checks before we have officers contact the vehicle. If we can see from the vehicle, oh, that’s not our party. We’re not going to pursue that any further.”…
