Denver expands free meal program to support kids during SNAP benefit pause

DENVER — The City and County of Denver will expand its free meal program for kids as families face a temporary halt in SNAP benefits this November.

Starting on Nov. 1, the city’s Tasty Food program will offer free, nutritious lunches every Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The weekend service runs through Jan. 3, 2026, and is open to all youth ages 3 to 18. No registration or ID is required, and any child can show up at 14 recreation centers offering the program to receive a meal. Families can find meal site locations and service times online.
