Aurora deploys mobile speed cameras across city to reduce crashes in ‘high-risk’ areas

DENVER (KDVR) — The Aurora Police Department is hoping to crack down on the rising trend of speeding crashes by deploying two mobile speed cameras that will move across the city at “high-risk” areas to enforce speeding laws.

The cameras are being deployed Tuesday, beginning a 30-day warning period before citations can be issued starting Dec. 17.

“We’ve heard you, Aurora,” the police department said in an X post announcing the warning period Tuesday morning. “Speeding has become a growing concern across our city and we’re stepping up to make our roads safer for everyone.”

The cameras will rotate around the city at locations such as residential areas with speed limits of 35 mph or less, school zones, streets bordering parks and work zones; the locations will be picked based on traffic safety risks or history, according to the department’s website…
