Denver has one of the sharpest declines in interest to move to: Study

DENVER (KDVR) — America’s “go-to” cities, once prime destinations people flocked to, including Denver, don’t seem to be in style anymore.

A new study from moveBuddha ranked the most popular cities to move to in 2026, but it’s not among the most popular cities that Denver, or any other Colorado city on the list for that matter, found itself. It was falling toward the bottom of the list.

The study, which looked at moving search trends from 2019 to 2025 to forecast top cities in 2026, found that midsized cities like Knoxville, Tennessee and Tulsa, Oklahoma, are where people could be looking to move to most next year.

The study also judged which cities had the sharpest increases and declines in moving interest. The West is no longer best, it seems, as Denver joined other major western cities like Phoenix and Seattle with nearly 50% declines in interest over the last six years.

The biggest finding in moveBuddha’s study is that they expect “Americans leave the ‘It’ cities for the ‘Just-Right’ cities in 2026.”…
