DENVER (KDVR) — A Nicaraguan citizen who was living in Denver was indicted by a federal grand jury in October for allegations that the man had trafficked over 100,000 fentanyl pills.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Utah, Hector Luis Castillo-Reyes, 33, was an undocumented Nicaraguan citizen living in Denver who was indicted on Oct. 14, although the federal government shutdown led to a delay in the information being shared.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office said that Castillo-Reyes was stopped by a San Juan County deputy in Utah for a traffic violation, and a K-9 alerted to the scent of narcotics, leading to a search of the suspect’s vehicle.
The deputies found 104,000 blue M-30 pills that weighed 23 pounds and field-tested positive for fentanyl. Castillo-Reyes was the sole occupant of the vehicle and was taken into police custody…
