Investigation finds $1.6M in stolen property after ‘major crime ring’ bust in Denver metro

DENVER (KDVR) — Further investigation into a “major crime ring” bust in late October uncovered over a million dollars in stolen property and thousands in property damage across the Denver metro area in less than a year.

In the morning of Oct. 22, the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office executed several search warrants for an alleged criminal enterprise that committed crimes in 25 Colorado jurisdictions.

The 20th Judicial District Attorney’s Office said the crime ring allegedly stole cars and took them to a chop shop. These cars were reportedly retitled and registered to a business run by the crime ring. These cars were then used to burglarize homes, according to the DA’s office. This included using the garage door openers to allegedly steal items, which included bicycles that were resold in Mexico. The enterprise also had distribution-level amounts of methamphetamine…
