Aurora police find 3 illegal guns during traffic stop; says 2 were bought via app

DENVER (KDVR) — Aurora police found three illegal firearms during a traffic stop last week after a vehicle with no front plate made a suspicious turn into a self-serve car wash.

The Aurora Police Department said that a District 1 officer was patrolling near East 16th Avenue and North Paris Street and noticed a black Mercedes with no front plate. The officer pulled behind the car, and the Mercedes “made a very quick turn into a self-serve car wash … at 9 p.m.”

“Not exactly prime car wash hours,” the department quipped on social media.

The officer followed the Mercedes and made contact with the occupants. The officer recognized a back-seat passenger as someone previously flagged in multiple weapons-related incidents, and reportedly tied to a “group known for illegal guns and violent crimes.”…
