Aurora police officer arrested, fired after alleged domestic violence incident

DENVER (KDVR) — An Aurora Police Department officer was fired after he was arrested the night before Thanksgiving, the Aurora agency reported Monday.

Officer Philip Sullivan was arrested on Nov. 26 at his home in Westminster. He is facing misdemeanor charges of third-degree assault, harassment, obstruction, resisting arrest, failure to leave a premise and prohibited use of a weapon.

The Aurora Police Department did not share details of the incident, but said that the Westminster Police Department is leading the criminal investigation. The Aurora agency is conducting a parallel internal administrative review, it said Monday.

“The charges and behavior alleged in this case are extremely troubling and run counter to the values of the Aurora Police Department. We have zero tolerance for conduct that undermines public trust and victimizes others.
