2 dead after stolen vehicle crashes into pole during Aurora police pursuit

Two people in a stolen car died on Monday after slamming into a traffic light pole during a pursuit by Aurora police officers, according to police.

During a Monday afternoon news conference, Aurora Police Department Commander Justin Shipley said the crash ensued after police attempted a traffic stop on a sedan stolen out of Fort Collins.

At 11:26 a.m., Aurora police officers were called to track the stolen vehicle. Police tracked the vehicle to East Mississippi Avenue and South Peoria Street, where, at 11:32 a.m., they attempted a traffic stop. The suspect then fled northbound on Peoria, according to Shipley…
