DENVER — Work is moving forward to preserve the history of American Indian boarding schools where native children were killed and abused for decades.
Legislation passed by state lawmakers is directing work that many hope will lead to healing.
Since then, the American Indian Steering Committee has been holding listening sessions and consulting with tribal members and survivors of the boarding schools, collecting oral histories of their experiences and documenting what happened. The work is an important step in ensuring this history isn’t forgotten…
