2 Denver sheriff deputies arrested on assault charges

DENVER — The Denver Sheriff Department confirmed that two of its deputies were arrested by the Denver Police Department and face felony charges.

Sgt. Carla Gentempo, assigned to the DSD Administration Division, and Deputy Jason Gentempo, who works at the Downtown Detention Center, were both charged with third-degree assault of an at-risk adult, a Class 6 felony under Colorado law.

Sheriff Elias Diggins placed both deputies on investigatory leave on Dec. 11 following notification of the arrests, according to the sheriff department. The Office of the Independent Monitor has been informed, and the Public Integrity Division has opened an investigation into the matter…
