Denver continues free lights recycling program that diverted over 1 ton last year

DENVER (KDVR) — Perhaps the string lights managed to tangle themselves into a knot in the attic. Or there’s a light on one side of the Christmas tree that won’t light on one side, and no Grinch on hand to take it back to his workshop.

Or perhaps, you plugged them in for the first time this year and nary a single bulb came to life.

No matter the case, the city of Denver is recycling old holiday lights for free through its Cherry Creek Recycling Center and Blue Star Recyclers. The lights will be accepted through Jan. 2, 2026…
