Thornton police find 5.5 pounds of ‘suspected illegal drugs’ after traffic stop

DENVER (KDVR) — The Thornton Police Department said it discovered more than 5.5 pounds of “suspected illegal drugs” following a recent traffic stop.

TPD said on Monday that the suspected illegal drugs were found after the vehicle was towed following a recent traffic stop for an equipment violation that revealed the driver was allegedly operating with a suspended license and without proof of insurance.

During a subsequent search of the vehicle, TPD said it discovered substances consistent with cocaine, fentanyl and methamphetamine.
