A grand jury in Denver has charged seven individuals with a total of 131 counts in connection with a sophisticated identity theft ring that has allegedly been operating across the metro area. According to a post by the Denver Police Department, the indictment was announced by Denver District Attorney John Walsh on Friday, December 19, 2025, detailing a series of crimes believed to have taken place between September 2024 and December 2025.
Running a scheme designed intricately, the defendants are accused of carrying out burglaries and mail theft to acquire identities they then exploited to defraud individuals and businesses. According to the Denver Police Department, the alleged criminals went far enough to create a fraudulent MyColorado ID app that they used to forge identifications.
