Denver considers proposal to ban law enforcement from wearing masks

DENVER — Denver city leaders will consider advancing a proposal that would ban all law enforcement officers, including federal immigration agents, from wearing masks while conducting operations in the city and county of Denver.

The proposal comes as Immigration and Customs Enforcement raids have increased nationwide, with agents frequently concealing their identities behind masks. Just last week, a masked ICE officer in Minneapolis shot and killed Renee Good, who was originally from Colorado Springs.

“When you see something so terrible, like someone getting shot in the face, it really helps you realize we need more accountability,” Councilwoman Flor Alvidrez said. “They work for the taxpayers, and we need to be able to have some accountability over them.”…
