One dead after car crashes into river in Denver metro

A car crashed into the South Platte River at East 58th and York Street in the Denver area on Sunday evening just after 5:30 p.m., leaving one dead.

According to a Facebook post from the Adams County Fire Rescue, the Honda CRV was traveling at a “high rate of speed” when it went into the river and landed upside down in the water. Bystanders had reportedly pulled the driver, a 22-year-old male from Denver, out of the water while crews arrived. The driver was the only occupant of the vehicle.

The driver was taken to a local hospital but sadly did not survive…
