Aurora officer justified in deadly shooting of unarmed 17-year-old: District Attorney

DENVER (KDVR) — An Aurora Police Department officer who shot and killed an unarmed 17-year-old outside of a gas station in September 2025 was deemed justified in his actions.

After an investigation, the 18th Judicial District’s Critical Incident Response Team determined the officer who shot and killed 17-year-old Blaze Aleczander Balle-Mason was justified since Balle-Mason was believed to be concealing a firearm. Criminal charges will not be filed against the Aurora officer.
