Joggers on edge after attempted kidnapping near Wash Park prompts safety rethink

DENVER — Denver police are searching for a man accused of attacking and attempting to kidnap a woman who was jogging near Washington Park on Jan. 7. The incident occurred on South Grant Street near the popular park and has left runners in the area on edge and rethinking their safety precautions.

The suspect is described as Black, in his 20s, about 6 feet tall with short dreadlocks or an afro. He was wearing a white or light-colored jacket with gray or dark sweatpants at the time of the attack.

The violent incident has prompted runners who frequent the area to take additional safety measures and reconsider when and where they feel safe exercising.
