DENVER (KDVR) — An incoming snowstorm is expected to bring several inches to the mountains and some flakes in Denver over the weekend.
A Pinpoint Weather Alert Day has been issued on Saturday due to the incoming snow, cold temperatures and slippery roadways over the weekend.
Denver weather: Mild Wednesday ahead of a cold end to the week
Here’s everything you need to know:
Timing
The Pinpoint Weather team said snow is expected to move in far southwest Colorado after midnight Friday and head into the Interstate 70 corridor by noon. The mountains should see snow early Friday, and snow could arrive in Denver in the afternoon.
Snow could stick in Denver on Friday night before ending on Saturday afternoon or even into the evening. The snow should stop by Saturday night, but the cold temperatures will stay throughout the weekend.
Totals
The Pinpoint Weather team said snow will come all day Friday and Saturday in the mountains, but the Denver metro could miss the storm on late Friday night.
The totals are still inconsistent, but here’s what the current models show:
- Denver metro: 1-3 inches
- Palmer Divide and Eastern Plains: 2-5 inches
- Foothills: 3-6 inches
- High country: 8-12+ inches

Impacts
Since cold air is coming in and there will likely be below-freezing temperatures on Friday, the Pinpoint Weather team said that it could be easy for snow to stick and accumulate.
Even if only a few inches fall, this could cause travel issues for people heading in and out of the mountains on Saturday morning and into the early afternoon.
Be prepared for slick and snow-covered roads on Saturday…
