A Denver man’s chain of violent actions has culminated in a substantial prison term, according to the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Colorado. Jason Cisneros, 34, from Denver, was sentenced to 144 months in federal prison followed by five years of supervised release after being convicted of using and brandishing a firearm during a crime spree in Denver in March 2025.
The series of events, outlined in the plea agreement, began when Cisneros stole a case of beer from a local convenience store on March 1, 2025. After being confronted by the store manager, he displayed a 9mm firearm and fled. His escape was short-lived due to a car malfunction, leading him to carjack a woman who was with her grandchildren at the time, authorities stated, as per the U.S. Department of Justice. In a rapid succession of criminal acts, Cisneros left behind a crashed vehicle with two adults and three children before forcefully stealing another vehicle at gunpoint.
The sentencing was handed down by United States District Judge Regina M. Rodriguez after Cisneros’ apprehension in downtown Denver by law enforcement officers.
