WHEAT RIDGE, Colo. — A male suspect was shot and wounded by an Edgewater police officer during a gunfight after a second female suspect allegedly crashed into a Wheat Ridge home on Saturday, according to the Edgewater Police Department.
No officers or anyone inside the home were injured. However, two other people were injured in the crash. The male suspect, who was shot during the exchange of gunfire, is listed in critical condition at a nearby hospital, police said.
According to Edgewater police, the incident started in Edgewater before moving to Wheat Ridge, and concluded near W. 32nd Avenue and Pierce Street. Here, the two suspects, after fleeing police, allegedly crashed into a car before crashing into a home’s garage.
Police said the incident began around 10:30 a.m., when an Edgewater officer spotted a GMC Yukon. A woman was driving, with a man as the passenger. The officer did not initiate a traffic stop as the vehicle sped away. It’s unclear why the officer was tracking the Yukon…
