Golden and Labrador retrievers have long been the top dogs in Colorado, showing up in surveys as the state’s favorite breeds. They are friendly, adorable and love getting outdoors, making them a perfect fit for the state.
But a new study from MetLife Pet Insurance finds Coloradans have another breed of dog on their minds heading into 2026. The Rhodesian ridgeback, a dog famous for being used to track lions in Africa, was the most popular dog breed, based on Google search patterns.
