DENVER (KDVR) — The suspect accused of starting a large apartment complex fire, who is now facing multiple arson charges, appeared in court on Tuesday. His defense asked the judge for several minutes to not allow media coverage in the courtroom of the case.
According to an arrest affidavit, 38-year-old Tony Becerra allegedly started a fire back on Jan. 2 that destroyed a partially constructed apartment complex on Leetsdale Drive in Denver.

Becerra stood behind the glass and in custody in the Denver County Courthouse while his defense asked the judge for cameras to not be allowed during Becerra’s appearances. His defense said they worry the media coverage will sway the jury down the line.
The judge countered that cameras would be allowed, but no audio of Becerra could be recorded or used. The other request from the judge is that no other inmates’ faces appearing in court at the time can be shown…
