I-70 crash sends 9 people to hospital

DENVER (KDVR) — A crash on Interstate 70 sent nine people to the hospital and closed the roadway on Thursday morning.

At 9:15 a.m., the Clear Creek County Sheriff’s Office said eastbound I-70 at mile marker 218, near Herman Gulch, was closed for a multi-vehicle crash involving several injuries. The crash involved both directions of the roadway, sending nine people to the hospital.

A Flight for Life helicopter was at the ballfields in Idaho Springs to meet an ambulance from the crash and transport a patient, the sheriff’s office said.

I-70 eastbound is closed, likely for an extended closure, the sheriff’s office said. Westbound is down to one lane. At 9:24 a.m., Google reported a 13-minute delay eastbound and a 26-minute delay westbound.
