Are you hitting the road today? Be careful: Colorado is one of the worst states to drive in, according to a recent Wallethub study. Based on issues like road congestion, safety and vehicle affordability, Colorado ranked as the sixth-worst state for driving.

Using 2025 data, Colorado rated better than only Washington, Montana, California, Maryland and Hawaii, which holds the title as the country’s worst state for driving…whether because of all those California transplants who don’t know how to drive in snow, or Colorado drivers who think they do.
