Man sentenced for 2025 puppy theft in Centennial

CENTENNIAL, Colo. — A man has been sentenced for the theft of two puppies from a Centennial pet store last year.

Jonathan Muniz, 33, was sentenced to eight years in the Department of Corrections after being convicted in September of robbery, theft, conspiracy to commit theft and third-degree assault for his role in the theft of the English Bulldog puppies which are valued at $4,299 each. Muniz’s sentence will run consecutively to an Adams County case where he was sentenced to 12 years, according to a spokesperson for the 18th Judicial District Attorney’s Office.

“No one should be assaulted at work for trying to do the right thing. This sentence recognizes the harm caused to the store employees who bravely intervened, as well as the callous nature of stealing defenseless animals,” said Erica Saluta, deputy district attorney…
