Natural Grocers just made a quiet but eye‑catching real estate move in its own backyard, snapping up a five‑story office building in Lakewood for $5.6 million. The roughly 80,000‑square‑foot property on Wadsworth Boulevard gives the hometown grocer a freestanding office hub close to its existing operations and sets the stage for a possible shift in how the company houses its corporate staff.

The publicly traded retailer bought the building at 3609 S. Wadsworth Blvd. last week for $5.6 million, or about $70 per square foot, according to BusinessDen. The outlet reports that Natural Grocers declined to comment on the purchase.

Past sale and renovations

Industry records show the property last changed hands in 2017, when DDIT Texas LLC and Amherst Capital Partners acquired it for roughly $8.2 million following renovations that updated the building and helped attract new tenants, as reported by MileHighCRE. A 2012 overhaul and subsequent leasing activity repositioned the property for professional users.

Building layout and available space

Commercial listings put the five‑story building at about 80,091 square feet, with floor plates generally ranging from roughly 14,300 to 17,200 square feet depending on the level. The listing also highlights upgraded elevators and HVAC systems along with a large surface parking lot, according to LoopNet.
