Suspect arrested after officers dragged by vehicle, Thornton Police say

THORNTON, Colo. — A man has been arrested in connection with an incident that injured two police officers earlier this month in Thornton.

On Feb. 3 just after 2 a.m. near West 88th Avenue and Huron Street, Thornton Police contacted an occupied suspicious vehicle parked at a gas station that didn’t have a license plate, according to a media release. When the suspect, later identified as 27-year-old Wesley Norton, provided false identification and was asked to leave the vehicle, he started the car and ignored officers’ commands to stop, according to the media release.

As Norton drove away, two police officers were dragged several yards, the media release says. One officer suffered minor injuries and the other sustained significant injuries. It is believed that the second officer was run over by the vehicle and bitten by Norton, according to Thornton Police…
