Starting tonight, we’ll stay dry with mostly clear skies and mild temperatures for late February. It won’t be as cold as it has been recently, and that warming trend will continue into the start of the work week. Monday looks quiet and even warmer, with a good amount of sunshine and no major weather issues expected.
By Tuesday, the big story turns to wind, especially along the Front Range and foothills. Very strong winds are expected to develop in the mountains, and there’s a chance those powerful gusts could push east onto the plains. Some areas in the higher elevations could see potentially damaging winds, and even parts of the northern plains may experience gusts strong enough to make travel difficult, especially for high-profile vehicles.
Wednesday stays windy and brings a change in the weather. Snow chances return to the mountains as a system moves in, and a cold front will sweep across the plains later in the day. Behind that front, strong northwest winds are likely, particularly near and north of I-76. In the mountains, blowing snow combined with strong gusts could create hazardous travel conditions and even brief whiteout conditions at times…
