Denver’s new property tax postcard has some residents riled

The city of Denver has launched a way of saving $100,000 toward this year’s projected $200 million budget shortfall: Instead of mailing out individual property tax bills, the city is sending postcards, reminding taxpayers that taxes are coming due and providing a website where they can find their bill.

Denver’s Department of Finance says that system will save around 500,000 pieces of paper this year, along with $100,000 in postage.

But some residents aren’t happy with the innovation and are letting their councilperson know about it…
