DENVER (KDVR) — Tensions are rising at Denver City Hall after Mayor Mike Johnston called criticism of the city’s East Alameda Avenue redesign “Trumpian” during a recent podcast interview — prompting pushback from several city councilmembers and street safety advocates.

The mayor made the comments while appearing on the local podcast City Cast Denver, where he rejected claims that the city revised its plans for the Alameda corridor after pressure from wealthy residents.
