No officers were reported hurt, and officials are labeling the case an officer-involved shooting that is now under review.

What happened

Cherry Hills Village officials told The Denver Post the shooting unfolded around 5:45 p.m. inside the hospital at 501 E. Hampden Ave. The person who was shot was described by department leaders as a suspect and is being treated at Swedish.

Englewood police said they were responding to the scene, and Denver7 reported there was no immediate word on what led up to the gunfire or how the confrontation began. The station noted that emergency crews remained on site while authorities worked the scene.

According to the City of Englewood, the 18th Judicial District’s Critical Incident Response Team typically investigates deadly-force encounters and is expected to play a role in any independent review of this shooting. The multi-agency team operates under the direction of the district attorney and includes investigators from participating departments and specialized units.
