A $14 million farmland purchase by the City of Aurora in Weld County is drawing criticism from Northern Colorado water officials who say the deal highlights growing tension between urban water demand and agricultural water supplies in the region.
Aurora purchased nearly 316 acres of farmland northwest of Kersey along with associated water rights, according to reporting by BizWest.
