Rare heat could bring days of record highs in mid-March

DENVER (KDVR) — March, which is known as the snowiest month of the year in Denver, is expected to see abnormally warm temperatures nearing 80 degrees and higher starting Tuesday and lasting throughout the week.

The Pinpoint Weather team is tracking unusually warm weather coming in mid-March. While Thursday and Friday are expected to be in the 70s, even warmer temperatures are on the way.

Was the March storm Denver’s last snow of the season?

March usually sees 11.4 inches of snow on average in Denver, but this year, like the rest of the winter, has been unusually warm. After Denver saw the second latest first snow in history and one of the warmest winters on record, this month is no different.

According to National Weather Service records, the start of March usually has a high of 50 degrees, and by the end of March, it’s around 60 degrees on average. However, come Tuesday and through next week, it will get even warmer.

How warm will it be in Denver next week?

The Pinpoint Weather team is tracking cooler temperatures that won’t reach above 40 degrees on Sunday, and Monday is expected to be below 60 degrees. By Tuesday, temperatures rise to 75 degrees, and by Wednesday, temperatures could hit 80 degrees.

To put this into perspective, the warmest temperature ever in March was recorded on March 26, 1971, at 84 degrees.
