No evidence of arson in fire that prompted evacuations in Thornton

THORNTON, Colo — The Thornton Fire Department said the cause of a fire that destroyed nearly 150 vehicles and prompted evacuations last month is still undetermined, but there’s no evidence it was intentionally set.

The fire started around 11:30 a.m. on Feb. 25 in the area of 84th Avenue and Huron Street, north of Pinnacle School. About 100 to 150 firefighters from multiple agencies responded to the fire, which burned about 10 acres. Pinnacle High School, nearby businesses and neighborhoods to the northeast were evacuated the afternoon of the fire. Smoke was visible across the Denver metro area.

While homes were saved, a nearby business suffered significant losses. Jason Rol, owner of car restoration company Rol Race Motorsports, told 9NEWS that 148 vehicles on the lot were lost…
