Aurora police use license plate cameras to locate lost 90-year-old

AURORA, Colo. (KDVR) — Police in Aurora used license plate tracking cameras to locate a 90-year-old woman with early dementia who went missing after driving for hours while trying to visit a sick relative.

Officers with the Aurora Police Department found the woman about 15 minutes after receiving a hit from a license plate camera system. Authorities safely stopped her vehicle near Aurora Medical Center, on the opposite side of the metro area from where she had intended to go.

Family members said the woman had been trying to get to a hospital in Arvada after learning a relative was sick.
