Man gets 18 years in prison in Boulder County hit-and-run that killed Broomfield cyclist

A man was sentenced to 18 years in prison Friday afternoon for fatally striking a Broomfield cyclist in Boulder County, leaving the scene and destroying evidence.

Dante Johnson, 24, pleaded guilty to one count of leaving the scene of an accident involving death and one count of destroying physical evidence, both felony charges. Johnson fatally struck 41-year-old John Wilkinson, a Broomfield resident well known in the local cycling community, while Wilkinson was riding on 95th Street east of Boulder.
