Man pleads guilty to killing 2 people in Aurora

AURORA, Colo. — A man was sentenced Monday morning to decades in prison for killing two men in Aurora last summer.

Ricky Roybal-Smith, who was on parole at the time of the killings last June still faces murder charges in two separate cases – one in Englewood and one in Denver.

On Monday morning, Roybal-Smith pleaded guilty to two counts of second-degree murder for killing 27‑year‑old Jesse Shafer and 61‑year‑old Scott Davenport in Aurora on June 29, 2025. He was immediately sentenced to 80 years in prison, 40 years for each victim, according to prosecutors…
