Littleton student brought knife to school in attempt to kill teacher, police say

A student at Chatfield High School in Littleton was arrested this week after police said they brought a knife to school in an attempt to kill a teacher.

The 16-year-old student brought a 7-inch butcher knife to school Tuesday and concealed it in their backpack, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release. The student attended the teacher’s class with the knife in their backpack, but ultimately did not go through with the plan and instead went to a school counselor and confessed, police said.

The knife was then confiscated and the student was arrested, police said. They were booked into the Marvin W. Foote Youth Services Center and face a charge of unlawful carrying of a weapon on school grounds…
