Man with warrant arrested after applying to Commerce City Police Department

DENVER (KDVR) — A man with a warrant for his arrest was arrested after he applied to the Commerce City Police Department, according to a social media post from the agency on Thursday.

“Sigh. You guys. We can’t believe this needs to be said but apparently it does. If you have six pages worth of criminal history (including habitual traffic offenses and domestic violence) and an active warrant for your arrest, we’re not gonna hire you,” the Commerce City Police Department said in the post.

The applicant contacted the department to see if he could do a ride-along with the department despite his active warrant. The agency invited the man to “chat about his application,” but arrested him when he arrived at the station.
