Allegedly armed man taken to hospital after deputies shoot him while responding to stabbing

DENVER (KDVR) — Adams County Sheriff’s Office deputies shot a man who they allege was armed while the deputies responded to a stabbing early Tuesday morning in Commerce City, according to the sheriff’s office.

The deputies responded to the stabbing at around 1 a.m. near 70th Avenue and Dexter Street in Commerce City. The sheriff’s office said a male suspect had fled the scene before deputies got there, so they began searching and a K9 unit also started tracking the suspect.

Police investigating shooting in Thornton

The deputies were in a backyard in the 6900 block of Dexter Street making “announcements” when a 32-year-old man exited the home “holding a firearm,” the sheriff’s office said.

Deputies gave commands to the man, and two deputies discharged their weapons, striking him, the sheriff’s office said. “He was transported to a local hospital.”…
