A man died early Wednesday after Westminster police placed him into protective custody.
Westminster Police Department officers responded just after 3:30 a.m. after family members of the man called 911 to report that he was undergoing a mental health crisis, according to a news release. Upon officers’ arrival, they located the 23-year-old man, who police said had access to “harmful substances,” and was attempting to harm himself.
Officers placed the man into protective custody and he was transported to a hospital. He was later pronounced deceased, police said. The release from the department did not specify how he is believed to have died…
