58 kilograms of cocaine destined for West Tennessee seized; trafficker sentenced to federal prison

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Erick Chaparro-Gamboa, 28, of Denver, Colorado, has been sentenced to federal prison for his role in conspiring to transport 58 kilograms of cocaine into West Tennessee. United States Attorney D. Michael Dunavant announced the sentence today.

According to information presented in court, on August 9, 2025, the Texas Department of Safety conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle driven by the defendant. After searching the vehicle, troopers located 58 kilograms of cocaine hidden in a speaker box. The Texas Department of Safety contacted the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) to assist.
