Euriah Hymes, 23, of Aurora, has been sentenced to 16 years in federal prison after admitting to a tense string of armed robberies that hit a dozen convenience stores across the Denver metro area. Federal prosecutors say the holdups left clerks terrified and triggered a major multi-agency investigation.
Robbery spree and plea
According to a press release by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Colorado, Hymes pleaded guilty to 12 armed robberies carried out between January 17 and February 14, 2024, in Broomfield, Westminster, Federal Heights, Thornton, Denver, and Aurora. In each case, prosecutors say, he threatened store employees with a firearm while demanding cash and swiping tobacco products.
The release quotes FBI Denver Special Agent in Charge Amanda Koldjeski, who summed up the impact on front-line workers: “Clerks in 12 convenience stores were held at gunpoint and traumatized.”
