A “medical emergency” struck a passenger on a Southwest flight earlier this week and another passenger — Medal of Honor recipient Dakota Meyer — stepped in to help during the harrowing incident.

The mid-air episode unfolded on a jet bound from Austin, Texas, to the Washington, D.C., area early on Wednesday, May 27.

However, the plane was forced to divert and land early in Little Rock, Ark., “to address a medical emergency” involving a passenger, a Southwest spokesperson tells PEOPLE…
