AUSTIN, Texas — The Texas House Committee on Public Education met Monday to hear from Texas educators about some of the funding struggles they face despite a recent $8 billion bill designed to increase allotments for certain district needs.
In 2025, Texas lawmakers passed House Bill 2, which provided targeted funding for districts to use on teacher compensation and retention, special education, and school safety, among other key items. It also increased the general per student allotment in the state by $55.
