AUSTIN, Texas — A family is searching for answers after a hit-and-run in South Austin left a 23-year-old U.S. Air Force firefighter with life-threatening injuries.
According to Austin police, officers were called to South Congress Avenue near William Cannon Drive on Saturday night after reports of a person lying in the road. When they arrived, they found a man with serious injuries and transported him to the hospital. Investigators believe he was struck by a vehicle while walking, and the driver fled the scene.
