AUSTIN (KXAN) — A Buda man was sentenced to serve 40 years in prison related to a November 2020 homicide investigation, according to Hays County court documents filed in April 2025.
Court documents said 47-year-old Damien Montague Roberts pleaded guilty to first-degree felony murder – family violence and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon – family violence.
The charges were in connection with the death of 65-year-old Darrell Thierry, who police identified as Roberts’ father.

Roberts was sentenced to serve 40 years in prison on the murder charge and 20 years on the aggravated assault charge. Both sentences will run concurrently, according to court documents.
