Dutch semiconductor company NXP Semiconductors NV is set to move into new offices in Northwest Austin after putting its 155-acre U.S. headquarters on the market. The company will begin a $30 million interior renovation at its new campus at 6433 Champions Grandview Way later this month. NXP is leasing the entirety of Champions Office Park, which includes two office buildings and a parking garage.
The decision to move comes after NXP revealed plans to ditch its Oak Hill campus, which has served as the company’s U.S. headquarters since 2015. In December, the company “commenced a focused reduction” of roles in Austin just before putting the campus on the market. NXP moved to the campus after acquiring Freescale Semiconductor, a Motorola spinoff, in 2015. The campus was initially built for Motorola Inc. in 1974.
NXP also operates a 960,000-square-foot facility in East Austin and maintains its U.S. headquarters in Austin. The company once had about 4,000 employees between the two campuses, although several rounds of layoffs have occurred since that figure was reported. NXP is also a…
